Changing the look of your home can be as easy as choosing new paint for the rooms inside of it. A fresh coat of paint can work wonders for a home that looks a bit outdated. At Castino Painting and Home Services, we are proud to offer professional interior painting services for homeowners in Northbrook, IL, as well as across Chicago and the North Shore.
Whether you just moved into a new home and the previous owners’ taste isn’t the same as yours or you’ve been living in your home for a while and just want a change, new paint is often the easiest and fastest way to do just that. At Castino Painting, our expert paint consultants can help you choose the best colors for your home to attain the atmosphere you’re after.
Different colors and shades can create different moods, so it’s important to keep these tips in mind when planning your interior painting choices:
- Warm colors are best for active living spaces, since they create feelings of excitement, happiness, and action. Think of your family room or the kitchen.
- Cool colors are more relaxing, which is why offices and bedrooms are often painted with these calmer colors.
- Light colors open up a room and make it appear larger, which is great if you have small rooms in your home. White reflects the most light, for the maximum effect.
- Dark colors make rooms look smaller than they are, since the colors absorb light. If you want to use dark colors but don’t want to make a room seem small, consider using them just as an accent wall or the trim.
At Castino Painting and Home Services, we work with our clients from start to finish to ensure they’re happy with the outcome of the painting project. Our on-staff experts can use technology to show homeowners a visual representation of what the colors will look like, using photos of the actual rooms they’ll be in. This way, you don’t have to commit to a color you’re unsure about.

A message about lead paint and the new EPA Mandate
This notice is to advise our customers of the new EPA mandated Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) program. The program went into effect on 4/22/10 and was updated on 7/1/10. The purpose of the program is to protect against lead-based paint hazards associated with renovation, repair and painting. There is a mandate that contractors working in homes and child-occupied facilities built before 1978 be trained and certified in lead-safe work practices. We want you to know that Castino has been “lead certified” and we follow all EPA rules and regulations. Our Certification Number is NAT-19937-1. As of 7/1/10, homeowners cannot opt out of this mandate and non-compliance carries a $32,500 fine for contractors. Castino has the right to refuse any job dealing with lead paint. Please call us with any questions or concerns.
