Changing the color of the rooms in your home is one of the easiest and fastest ways to overhaul the atmosphere in your house. Whether you choose a faux finish, a brand new color, or a different shade, updating the paint can make a huge difference in the appearance of a room.
At Castino Painting and Home Services, we offer professional interior home painting services to residents in Highland Park, ILas well as homeowners across Chicago and the North Shore. We work with our clients to help them choose a new look for their home that they’ll love for years.
Choosing the Right Colors
When you’re picking out new paint colors, it’s important to consider the type of atmosphere you want to create and what different colors and shades can do for each room in your home. Colors as well as shade can determine how each room feels. For example:
- Light colors make rooms look bigger, which is great for small rooms.
- Dark colors make rooms appear smaller, so if you want to use them, you may want to only use them as accent walls or on the trim.
- Warm colors create feelings of happiness and action, which makes them perfect for active living spaces like the kitchen or family room.
- Cool colors are great for rooms where relaxation or concentration are desired, such as bedrooms or offices.
Castino Painting and Home Services’ paint consultants will be happy to help you find the perfect colors for your home, and since we use technology that allows you to visualize the colors you’re considering on photos of your home, you’ll be sure the love the finished project. Enjoy the new paint colors, and enjoy living in what will feel like a brand new Highland Park home.

A message about lead paint and the new EPA Mandate
A new EPA mandated Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) program went into effect on 4/22/10 and was updated on 7/1/10. This program is designed to protect against lead-based paint hazards associated with renovation, repair and painting. This program mandates that contractors working in homes and child-occupied facilities built before 1978 be trained and certified in lead-safe work practices. Castino has been “lead certified” and we are following all EPA rules and regulations. Our Certification Number is NAT-19937-1. As of 7/1/10, homeowners cannot opt out of this mandate. Castino has the right to refuse any job dealing with lead paint. Non-compliance carries a $32,500 fine for contractors. Please call us with any questions or concerns.
